BHEL bags Rs 140-cr UAE order


New Delhi, Aug 26

State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) announced on Tuesday it had won a contract for export of two gas turbine generating units worth Rs 140 crore in the United Arab Emirates. The order, from International Energy Resources, is for two units of 42 MW each, BHEL said in a statement. With this, BHEL has been able to secure orders for six gas turbine generating units from UAE with a cumulative value of Rs 450 crore in a short span of just 11 months, the statement sai d. “The Middle East is one of BHEL’s key export regions (and) one of the fastest growing markets for power generating equipment globally,” it said. BHEL has set up 14 power projects so far in West Asia, apart from supplying equipment for the power and oil and gas sectors in the region, it said.
