People Will Reddy get extension? Our Bureau New Delhi, Aug. 26 With less than 10 days to go before the Reserve Bank of India Governor, Dr Y.V. Reddy’s five-year stint comes to an end, speculation is rife in financial circles and corridors of power here that he may be asked to continue given the concerns on the inflation front. Many observers feel that a change of guard at this juncture, with inflation at a 16-year high and general elections in mid-2009, may not be appropriate as the next Governor may take some time to settle down in the hot seat. The terms of Dr Reddy’s immediate predecessors - Dr Bimal Jalan and Dr C Rangarajan - too had been extended. The names doing the rounds for the central bank chief’s post include the Finance Secretary, Dr D Subbarao and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Pune, Mr Narendra Jadhav.
