Telecommunications Shyam gets CDMA spectrum Our Bureau New Delhi, Aug 29 The Department of Telecom has released spectrum to Shyam Telecom to offer CDMA-based mobile services across the country. Shyam had earlier partnered with Russian conglomerate Sistema for rolling out telecom services. The company would be the fourth pan Indian CDMA player after Reliance Communicationa, Tata Teleservices and BSNL. At present, the company is offering services in Rajasthan only. Shyam was among the 5 companies which were recently given new licences. While the others chose to take GSM spectrum, Shyam opted for CDMA which has enabled the company to beat the queue. The other new players including Videocon, Unitech and Swan have been given GSM spectrum in a few circles. More Stories on : Telecommunications
