Events ‘Connected society’ needed for inclusive development Our Bureau Chennai, Sept. 1 There is a need to integrate different sections of the society for an inclusive development of the country. A ‘connected society’ is required to facilitate focusing on different technological and social issues involved. The use of information, communication and technology (ICT) in different segments of society and the penetration of ICT in areas such as healthcare, education, business, entertainment, sports and rural communities, are key issues to be discussed at the 43rd Annual convention of Computer Society of India and 25th South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation conference. The three-day conference on ‘Connected Society’ to be held at the Chennai Trade Centre between September 10 and 12 will bring in experts from the ICT industry and academia to discuss on an integrated society, said Mr S. Srinivasan, Co-Chairman of the event’s organising committee The CII Connect 2008 and an exhibition, Taitronics India 2008, are happening simultaneously in the same venue, he told newspersons. Some of the speakers in the event include Mr Vinay Deshpande of Encore Systems, Mr K. Ananth Krishnan of Tata Consultancy Services and Prof P.V. Indiresan.
