Power States - Karnataka KSEB seeks further hike in tariff or more curbs Our Bureau Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 1 Faced with a grave financial crisis caused by purchase of costly power from outside in the wake of poor monsoon, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has sought either further increase in power tariff or more restrictions on power supply. KSEB made this submission to the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) at a public hearing here on Monday to take stock of the power situation in the State. The hearing was attended by representatives of High Tension and Extra High Tension consumers. The board, in its presentation, pointed out that the thermal surcharge imposed recently and other prevailing restrictions on supply would not be able to help it tide over the crisis. It said the overall hydel position in the State had not improved since the SERC hearing last month. On the other hand, energy consumption has not recorded any reduction to the levels expected despite load-shedding, imposition of the thermal surcharge and other restrictions.
