Meet on co-op banks development

Mangalore, Sept. 2

The regional training college of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) in Mangalore conducted a seminar for chief executive officers of district central cooperative banks of southern States and Maharashtra recently. A press release said here the focus of the seminar was on business development, diversification strategies and human resources management initiatives. Inaugurating the seminar, Mr S.G. Siddesh, Principal of the college, stressed the need for exploring new business opportunities possible for cooperative banks. The seminar was informed that many non-credit and fee-based activities such as bancassurance, issue of guarantee, and collection of taxes on behalf of the Government and local bodies will boost profit of cooperative banks.
