Letters Singur issue The Singur problem has taken on a new twist and is becoming more confusing, especially for the general public. It is highly inappropriate to spread false news to the public that it was agreed that 200-300 acres of land within the project area would be returned to unwilling farmers and vendors would be shifted across the road. The original parties to the contract are Tatas and West Bengal government. That being so, any announcement amending the original terms and conditions without prior concurrence of either party stands to be ‘null and void’. Politicians must abstain from creating any further confusion and look forward to ‘transparency’ and ‘mutual concurrence’ for amicable resolution of the crisis on hand.
