Tatas to start relief work in Bihar

Mumbai, Sept. 9 Tata Steel will construct 50 semi-permanent relief shelters in the flood-affected areas of Bihar. About 100 employees of the company have volunteered to travel to the devastated areas and help relief operations.

A task force has been formed under the leadership of Mr Rituraj, Chief, Corporate Relations, Tata Steel, and a seven-member team will monitor and coordinate the relief work.

After speaking to the Bihar Chief Minister, Mr Nitish Kumar, Tata Steel offered to assist the State Government in the rehabilitation work, the steel major said.

Mr B. Muthuraman, Managing Director, Tata Steel, instructed Tata Relief Committee to construct the relief shelters.

The company said a large quantity of material such as Tata Shaktee sheets and Tata MS pipes required for building the shelters are being dispatched from Jamshedpur and construction would start in a week.
