Jamna Auto appoints expats to expand overseas biz

New Delhi, Sept. 23 Component supplier, Jamna Auto Industries, is aiming to export around 20-25 per cent of its domestic production capacity, beginning next fiscal.

As a part of its strategy to expand its export business, the company on Monday announced roping in expats such as Mr Kevin Charlesworth and Mr David Owens from the UK-based leaf spring company, Tinsley Bridge Limited and Mr Kenzo Tago from NHK Japan. While

Mr Charlesworth would head the company’s manufacturing operations, Mr Tago and Mr Owens have joined as technical consultants.

Currently, the company exports a miniscule of its production, owing to a majority of capacity being utilised for serving commercial vehicle majors such as Tata Motors, Eicher, Volvo amongst others domestically.

Plants expansion

“Our plants at Gwalior and Chennai are being expanded to cater to the markets such as the US and EU, both for supplies to vehicle manufacturers as well as for the replacement market,” said Mr Gautam Mukherjee,President, Finance.

Mr Mukherjee said the strategy to increase exports was also with the view to diversify business partly from the domestic market which was slowing down.

“Jamna Auto, which is currently amongst the top seven producers of springs globally, aspires to be in the top three slots very soon.

We also plan to enter the high-margin exports market by the beginning of the next financial year for which we have appointed a new team on our board,” said the company’s CEO, Mr Randeep Jauhar, in a statement.
