Telecommunications 9.16 m new mobile subscribers New Delhi, Sept. 25 Mobile operators, both GSM and CDMA, have added another 9.16 million subscribers in August to take the total user base to 305.24 million. The operators had added 9.22 million subscribers in July. However, a dip in the wireline connections has resulted in lower net addition in overall telephone user base with 9.03 million new telephone connections (wireline and wireless) during August, compared to 9.06 million connections added in July. The total number of telephone connections reaches 343.87 million, compared to 334.84 million in July. With this growth, the overall tele-density has reached 29.83 per cent. In the wireline segment, the subscriber base has decreased to 38.63 million in August from 38.76 million subscribers in July. Broadband usage seems to be picking up pace finally. Total broadband subscribers base has reached 4.73 million by the end of August as compared to 4.57 million by the end of July. - Our Bureau More Stories on : Telecommunications
