NMP handles record iron ore fine

Mangalore, Sept. 26

New Mangalore Port handled a record cargo of 35,266 tonnes of iron ore fines in a day on September 24. A press release by the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) said here on Friday that the port handled 35,266 tonnes of iron ore fines on September 24 on m.v. Father-F, surpassing the earlier record of 35,100 tonnes handled on February 6, 2005 on m.v. Helic Breeze. The port handled 38.6 lakh tonnes of iron ore cargo as on September 26 as against 33.7 lakh tonnes in the correspo nding period of the previous fiscal. —
