Shyam mobile services next week

New Delhi, Sept. 26

Shyam Telelink, a joint venture of Russian telecom giant Sistema and Mr Rajiv Mehrotra-backed Shyam Group, will launch mobile services on September 30. The company was among those who had recently bagged pan-India licence and will be the first to launch services. Shyam will use CDMA technology and will kick-start the service from Rajasthan. The strategy to opt for CDMA spectrum has worked for the company as they beat the huge queue for GSM spectrum. Other new players such as Unitech and Datacom are still waiting for GSM spectrum. They are also in the process of finalising a strategic partner. —
