Sanghi group row over property sharing

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Sept 28 The diversified business house, Sanghi Group, is in the centre of controversy as two of the four brothers sought police protection and a “fair settlement” in sharing of property.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Mr Sudhir Sanghi said due to “threat to their lives” from his younger brothers - Mr Ravi Sanghi and Mr Girish Sanghi – the State Government should extend police protection to him and his elder brother, Mr Anand.

“We have requested for police protection as we see threat to our lives in Sanghinagar,” he said adding that they were ready to be separated from the group if there is a “fair settlement” of the property disputes.

Started in 1978, the group is now promoted by Mr Anand Prakash Sanghi and his brothers Mr Sudhir Sanghi, Mr Ravi Sanghi and Mr Girish Sanghi. It has stakes in textiles and related activities, publications, plastics and leather, and cement production and some of the business are listed entities.

The simmering differences in the family came to the fore hours after conclusion of a stormy annual general meeting at Sanghinagar near here on Saturday when the two warring groups allegedly attacked one another and approached police.

The police had also registered criminal cases against both the groups of the family.
