Petroleum Oil product sales in Aug up 3.6% New Delhi, Sept. 30 Floods and heavy rains in different parts of the country have resulted in sales of petroleum products registering a slower growth rate in August against the previous month. Though oil product sales in August rose by 3.6 per cent to 9.95 million tonnes from the same month last year, was less than the growth of 7.8 per cent registered in July. However, diesel sales continued to see an increase in growth in August as well, though lower than the peak it saw in February. Diese l consumption in August stood at 3.63 million tonnes up by 9.4 per cent compared with same month last year, according to a Petroleum Ministry data. Sales of petrol in August registered a growth of 8 per cent to nearly 8,92,100 tonnes. The imports of petroleum products in August fell by 25.2 per cent to 1.45 million tonnes. Petroleum product exports during the month under review dipped by 5.8 per cent to 3.06 million tonnes. The crude oil imports rose 10.3 per cent to 10.9 million tonnes in August. This was mainly due to purchases by private sector players Essar Oil and Reliance Industries Ltd. — Our Bureau More Stories on : Petroleum
