Bangalore, Oct. 2 Cancer hospital chain HealthCare Global Enterprises Ltd has roped in veteran film actor and social activist Shabana Azmi as its brand ambassador to create awareness on breast cancer.

HCG said Ms Azmi would launch its month-long campaign on October 4 in the presence of Biocon Ltd CEO, Ms Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw. It would highlight early detection combined with diagnosis and treatment, and for those with it, provide a comfortable life with dignity.

The campaign will include activities at malls, technology parks, residential areas, combined with special screening camps across 15 HCG centres and hospitals. Dr Ajai Kumar, Chairman & CEO, HCG, said, “Breast cancer is the most common cancer among urban women, with one out of 22 having a lifetime risk and the figures are increasing gradually. If not contained, this increase is expected to match western figures of one in eight women.”
