Cosmo to expand retail presence

R. Ravikumar

Chennai, Oct. 9

Flooring solutions brand Cosmo Floors, part of Cosmo Granites Pvt Ltd, is planning to expand its retail presence with showrooms in Madurai and Hyderabad.

It recently soft-launched its large format showroom and stockyard spread over four acres on Old Mahabalipuram Road.

With this, the company has a total of six showrooms in various cities — two in Chennai and one each in Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi.

Retail foray

Started in 1993 as a granite mining company with quarries and processing units in Andhra Pradesh, Cosmo Granites decided to get into the retailing to reach out to the end user directly.

It then expanded its product portfolio to include other flooring materials such as marbles, laminated and engineered wooden, and sports flooring materials.

It has also introduced strand woven bamboo used for stairs, decking, flooring and wall paneling. It also consults on flooring solutions for housing and the hospitality industry.

Joint Venture plans

Scaling up its operations, Cosmo Floors is all set to get into LED-based lighting solutions. According to Mr D. Venkaatesh, Managing Director of Cosmo Granites, the company plans to enter into a tie-up with a Netherlands-based Eyeleds for the purpose.

“This is one step forward from what we are offering now. Currently, we are offering LED lighting systems — under the brand Eyeleds — imported from Europe. The tie-up would enable us to offer complete lighting solutions for the end user,” he said.

Once this tie-up comes through, Cosmo Floors will co-ordinate with the builder right from the planning stage.
