IIM-K management conclave begins

Our Bureau

Kochi, Oct. 10 The Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode is organising its annual management conclave, Horzons 08, from October 10 to 12 on its campus.

The ninth edition of the management conclave is based on Looking East – Redefining Global Dynamics. The theme was chosen in the backdrop of a resurgent India and China, revival of Japan, the growing financial muscle of Singapore, the coming up of South Korea and the Middle East — indicating more than a mere economic recovery.

The conclave is expected to see industry stalwarts, policy makers and leaders critically analysing the prominent role these countries are playing in the global arena, a press release issued here has said.

The primary focus of this three-day event would be on the real estate sector, as well as the retail, media and entertainment sectors.

The three themes are expected to provide an ideal platform for speakers and students to discuss the pertinent issues and challenges in maintaining the high growth rates as well as factors that decide the sustainability of growth for the industry, a press release from IIMK has said.

Mr Shivakumar, Managing Director of Nokia; Mr Darshan Hiranandani, Director and CEO of Hircon International; Mr K. Thiagarajan, CEO of Maytas Properties; Mr T.V. Thyagharajon, Vice-President of Reliance Retail; Mr Dinesh Jain, CEO of Zee Turner; Mr Pradeep Gupta, CMD of Cybermedia; Col. Upendra Sachdev, Executive Director of the Indian Franchising Association; Mr Deepak Chaurasiya, Editor of Star News; Mr Sumit Gupta, Chief Operating Officer of UTVi; and Ms Sathya Saran, Editor of DNA-ME, are expected to attend the conclave, the release said.
