The Hindu Business Line : NComputing bags AP deal

US-based NComputing, a provider of shared computer technologies, will provide software and hardware for a computer education programme being implemented by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. “As per a tender we secured from the AP Government, we will supply 40,000 devices with NComputing solutions to be used in 5,000 schools across Andhra Pradesh in association with NIIT and other partners,” Mr Stephen Dukker, CEO of NComputing, told newspersons here on Monday.< /p>

The device, which costs Rs 4,000, would help utilise the full capacity of the central processing unit of a PC by connecting it to other monitors. “This will allow each of the 5,000 schools to have a 10-seat computing lab with two desktop PCs and eight NComputing devices,” he said.

The total contract value is Rs 400 crore, which will be shared along with programme executing partners such as NIIT. “From revenue, it may not be a big thing for us but we are excited about the massive use of our product,” he said.

NComputing would be launching a host of new products including a wireless solution for shared computing, he added. Mr L. Balasubramanian, President (School Learning), NIIT, said the contract would be implemented on build-operate-transfer basis within five years. –
