‘Phishing gets sophisticated’

Our Bureau

Coimbatore, Nov. 27 The threat landscape is dangerous and growing more sophisticated, according to Websense Security Labs. The Security Labs findings, published in its monthly publication In The Mail, show that there has been a 240 per cent increase in phishing e-mails over the months. Over 90 per cent of spam included an embedded URL. While the Lab detected 99.75 per cent of the spam, it admits that the Web and e-mail threats are global and constantly evolving.

According to Websense, such attacks could be identified and countered only by a professional security expert. Wherever businesses relied on in-house IT security solutions, it not only put a strain on administrative capabilities, but also tended to compromise on their solutions as the operating costs sky-rocketed.
