Coimbatore, Dec. 24 For movie buffs and those who look forward to watching premiere shows, live concerts and sports events, Big Tree Entertainment’s Bookmyshow.com is expected to revolutionise the current scenario.

The portal provides ticket booking service for movies, plays, concerts, live events and sports, selling tickets for more than 500 screens and 130 theatres across 50 cities.

It is now planning to expand its reach across newer cities and broaden its sales channel. “We are eyeing the market in the South, particularly Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, where movies have become an integral part of life,” its CEO and founder, Mr Ashish Hemrajani, said.

Film reviews, synopsis and live information are available on the site. It also allows the user to select a film, plan when and where to see it and even pre-book movie tickets before plans open. “Around 50 per cent are repeat customers and we do close to 5-6 million page reviews every month,” he said.

Add-on services

Real-time information, live seating plan, gift vouchers, tickets through the Web platform, on the mobile/WAP site and ticket delivery at doorstep via call centre promotional codes are the other add-on services that is offered by Bookmyshow.com.

Mr Hemrajani said the site had, within a year of providing such services, been able to achieve breakthrough sales with Dostana — a Bollywood blockbuster — by being their official ticketing partner, generating Rs 1.5 crore in the opening week.

Its multiplex partners include exhibitors like Fun cinemas, Adlabs, Inox, M2k, Prasandz, Cinemax, SRS, DT, Wave, Spice and many others. Its theatre partners include Prithvi Theatre, NCPA in Delhi and Rangshankara in Mumbai.

Airtel alliance

Bookmyshow.com recently forged an alliance with Airtel to provide the latter’s customers easy access to Bookmyshow.com via their mobile phones through the use of user-friendly mobile applications, their wapsite and tele-booking facility as well.

Mr Hemrajani said the partnership with Vodaphone was slightly different.
