Our Bureau Hyderabad, Dec. 25 Satyam Computer Services, which has been receiving lot of flak following the aborted bid to acquire Maytas Properties and Maytas Infrastructure, has asked the World Bank to apologise to it for harming its interests. It also asked the Bank to explain the circumstances related to the “Bank’s inappropriate statements” quoted in the media extensively. The Bank on Wednesday announced that it made Satyam ineligible for eight years to take any contract from it “for providing improper benefits to Bank staff” and “for failing to maintain documentation to support fees charged for its subcontractors.” It, however, said that the issue of data theft was not a reason for debarring the company. It also said that the company was not involved in malicious attacks on the Bank’s information systems. ‘Harm done’In a strongly worded statement on Thursday, Satyam asked the Bank to immediately withdraw those statements and issue a new statement apologising to Satyam “for the harm done to the company due to the Bank’s actions”. “We will evaluate all possible options in view of both the Bank’s inappropriate public statements and its response to Satyam’s requests,” the statement said. Satyam had been declining to comment on World Bank’s decision to bar it for eight years in the last two days, saying that it would not comment on the issues related to individual clients. Reiterating that stand in its Thursday statement, Satyam said that it was forced to issue the statement keeping in view the inaccuracy and inappropriateness of the Bank’s public posture regarding the company. ‘World Bank move in accordance with policy’ World Bank to keep out Satyam for 8 years More Stories on : Software | Security | Satyam Computer Services Ltd
