Telecommunications Three-month lock-in for number portability Our Bureau New Delhi, June 30 Even as Mobile Number Portability is set to kick in by September, subscribers will have to stay on an operator’s network for a minimum of three months before they can port their number to another operator. According to draft guidelines for implementing MNP issued by the telecom regulator, subscribers who do not stay connected on an operator’s network for at least 90 days will not be allowed to port their number. MNP allows subscribers to change their operator without giving up the phone number. The draft regulations issued by the TRAI stipulates the business process for implementing the system.
