Norms followed in spectrum allocation, says Raja

Special Correspondent

Udhagamandalam (TN), Oct. 24 The Union Minister for Communications, Mr A. Raja, on Saturday said that the spectrum allocations were made according to the norms set by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and in consultation with the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh. “The procedure followed by me was the same as my predecessors,” he said.

He told reporters at Aruvankadu, near here, that he was not aware of any ulterior motive behind the raids at the offices of the Department of Telecommunications. “If any of the DoT officials are found to be at fault suitable action will be taken against them,” he said.

To a question on the Janata Party President, Mr Subramanian Swamy, seeking the Prime Minister’s sanction to prosecute him, he said: “Can we expect Mr Subramanian Swamy, Ms Jayalalithaa or the BJP to shower encomiums on Raja?”
