Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off Hardware trouble
Recently I installed Win-XP on my machine. The problem is whenever I start my computer in Win-XP, the message `New hardware found' appears. It instructs me to install modem and printer. But I have already installed both of them. My modem is Rockwell 33.6 DPF External PnP and my printer specification is Wipro LQ 1050+DX Gold. Please suggest a solution to my problem. S. Densingh These issues occur with plug and play hardware. Windows detects such hardware by itself when you start the OS. You would have probably installed the hardware using the software provided by the respective vendors. Windows has not marked these devices as installed and that's why you get the new hardware wizard every time you start the system. To solve the problem, please follow the wizard and reinstall the devices. If this doesn't solve the problem, then you will have to remove both the devices from the device list and then restart the system. You can do this from the device manager. On restarting, the system will bring up the hardware wizard. Keep the device driver CDs handy, follow the wizard and install the devices.
