Pop-up windows

Whenever I log on to my PC and connect to the Internet, certain unnecessary pop-up windows or Web sites automatically flashes up, thereby causing interruption to my browsing session. Please suggest a solution.

Guru Vennkata Balaji

There are several software that you can download and install to avoid annoying pop-up windows which keep popping up while one browses. They are not only annoying but also use up your Internet bandwidth and thus slow down your browsing speed. Here is a URL with a list of freely downloadable software: http://www.webattack.com/Freeware/misctools/fwpopblock.shtml

`Popup Defender' is one such program that has some added features. You can have it downloaded from http://www.zdnet.com.au/downloads/pc/swinfo/ 0,2000036746,10161253,00.htm
