Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off Problem with Directdraw
I initially had Directx8.0 installed on my system, and all my applications were working properly. I then installed and ran Cricket 2002 Demo (EA Sports) from the E-Commerce magazine's free CD. It ran well for quite some time. I then installed Brian Lara Cricket Demo from an older D(Computers@Home). The performance didn't change. But, after a few runs, The Cricket 2002 Demo started shutting itself down automatically after a few replays, following which it stopped running altogether. Thinking that some kind of interference was going on between the two, I uninstalled Brian Lara Cricket Demo, during which I deleted the SHARED FILES too. In the meantime, I installed Directx 8.1 from E-Commerce magazine. The problem with Cricket 2002 didn't change. Next, I ran MotoGP Demo (installed from a Digit CD), which used to run well previously. Now, it, and other games such as UT2003 Demo showed me the following error: \'D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE\'. I tried using the Directx Diagnosis tool, but it didn't detect any error. The exact response given by UT2003 Demo is present in the attachment. What is the problem I am facing? Please suggest a solution. Vasantharajan This error occurs when the video card is detected incorrectly or when hardware acceleration is not supported. Please do a clean install of your video driver by removing the video driver. Make a restart and then reinstall the driver. If this doesn't help, please go to the Start menu, choose run and type DXDIAG so it opens the DirectX Diagnostics program. Disable Direct 3D Acceleration under the display tab and then close the program.
