Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off Problem playing 3D games
I purchased a computer from HCL Infosystems in December 1998. Its configuration is Cyrix GX MMX processor, of 233 MHz, 32 MB RAM, 2.1GB Hard Disk. I am using Windows 98. Sometimes when I try to run some new games, a message appears that the computer does not support 3D Graphics. Please tell me how can I check whether my computer can run 3D games or not. Vimlesh Kumar You will basically require a Graphic Acceleration Card to enjoy 3D Graphics. You will also require an AGP slot in the Motherboard which will not be present in your board, meaning you will have to go in for a Motherboard upgrade. Installing the latest version of directx does provide some 3D software rendering but some games require Graphic cards. Most of the motherboards today have on-board video, but they do not match add-on 3D cards. You can get a decent 3D card for around Rs 1,800. If you decide to buy one, you will have to make sure that your motherboard does have an AGP slot to have the card installed.
