Make way for more space

I use Windows-ME and it works well enough. Only I have found that the Restore feature of ME is using up around 300 to 400 MB of the hard disk. The capacity of my C Drive is only 2.0 GB, and this sometimes creates problems due to lack of space. Please tell me if it is possible to turn off this Restore feature in ME so that I can have more space in the hard drive. - Chandraprakash Ambat

Here is the procedure to disable `System Restore' in windows ME.

1) Please right-click on the `My Computer' icon, and click `Properties'.

2) In the dialog box that appears, click on the performances tab.

3) Next, click on the file system button.

4) Select `Repair Tab' and check the `Disable System Restore' checkbox.

This will enable you to delete the system restore files, which were created.

However, you can also save space by clearing unwanted, junk files created by programs using system tools. One such tool is `System Mechanic'. You can also clear obsolete files — the ones that are no longer required by your system. There is also an option to remove broken shortcuts and invalid registry entries from the system, which makes the system work faster. There is a tweak section where you can optimise the system performance, and remove unnecessary start-up programs. You can have the software downloaded for the following URL: ftp://ftp3.iolohost.com/system_mechanic.exe,

It is a 30-day evaluation pack.
