Ford's Fiesta

Ford plans to launch the Fiesta in November. A team of Indian engineers working in collaboration with Ford's product development team in the UK, Germany and Australia has developed the sedan to suit the Indian consumer. The sedan would make its world debut in India.

The Fiesta would be positioned as a premium car in the mid-size segment, complementing the Ikon which is targeted at the lower end of the mid-size segment. Ford plans to roll out both the petrol and diesel versions with Dura technologies. An all-aluminium engine would form the heart of the petrol variant.

The Duratec petrol engine would be outsourced from Hindustan Motors. Ford would introduce its proprietary TDCi (Turbo Direct Common Rail injection) technology in the diesel variant. The Duratorq diesel, an aluminium alloy construction, promises to be lighter than the conventional engines. The diesel engine would be imported from Ford's global facilities.

The Duratec and Duratorq engines are designed to enhance fuel efficiency and lower noise. Ford promises that the Fiesta would feature a distinctive exterior styling and contemporary interiors. It plans to roll out the sedan in new colours and incorporate luxury features.
