On the new X-Trail

S. Muralidhar

NISSAN Motors India is launching a new special edition version of the company's compact sports utility vehicle, the X-Trail, to commemorate the completion of one year of operations in the country. The X-Trail is the only product that the company is offering retail customers.

Nissan imports the X-Trail from its Japanese manufacturing facility and the new updated version will be available at all the five authorised Nissan dealerships in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Secunderabad and Bangalore for a limited period during the festive season. The dealerships have started accepting bookings for the new X-Trail.

Christened the Nissan X-Trail Celebration, the new version is being called the first in a line-up of limited edition vehicles from Nissan Motors in India that will offer several unique exterior enhancements. All the Celebration vehicles will now sport such additional features as front and rear under-protection covers and front and rear-side protectors that are designed to complement the SUV's black and silver exterior finish.

The special edition Celebration is further distinguished with embellishments such as a side sill protector, chrome exhaust finisher, door visors and a rear spoiler that should enhance the existing aggressive, sporty styling and fun-to-drive image of this SUV.

The X-Trail comes with Nissan's 2.2 litre dCi diesel engine, which provides a best-in-class peak power output of 136bhp, combined with an impressive 314 Nm of torque at a low 2,000 rpm. The compact SUV, which competes with lower priced competitors such as the Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson, comes with the option of either a six-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic gearbox.

The X-Trail's standard fitment also includes Nissan's All Mode 4X4 system. Considered to be one of the most advanced four-wheel drive in the world, the electronically controlled system allows the driver to select the operating mode through a simple electric switch.

The new special edition will be available in two colours, black and silver, and is priced at Rs 24.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Customers who have chosen the X-Trail for its off-roading prowess and compactness, and yet extremely practical features, will appreciate the Celebrations' exclusive new features.
