Corporate Aban Offshore arm's JV bags $271 mn order from Maersk Oil MUMBAI: Offshore drilling and oil field services provider, Aban Offshore on Monday said a joint venture of its subsidiary has bagged $271 million dollar (about Rs 1,191 crore) order from Maersk Oil Angola. Venture Drilling AS, a company in which a subsidiary of Aban Offshore has a 50 per cent shareholding, has signed a 18 month contract with Maersk Oil Angola, at an operating day rate of $495,000 (equal to Rs 2.17 crore) after withholding tax, Aban Offsho re said in a press release. This contract is likely to commence in July 2009 and the estimated revenue from the contract is around $271 million (equal to Rs 1191 crore), the company added. Maersk Oil is a midsize international oil and gas company operating an oil production of more than 600,000 barrels per day and a sales gas production of up to some 1,000 million cubic feet per day. Shares of the company were trading at Rs 2,114, up 1.62 per cent in afternoon trade on BSE - PTI
