Corporate BHEL bags Rs 2,600-cr order from Jindal India Thermal NEW DELHI: State-run power equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has secured an order of Rs 2,600 crore from Jindal India Thermal Power Ltd. “The order is for main plant package for an upcoming greenfield thermal power project in Orissa, involving two units of (new-rating) 600 MW which would be located at Derang in Angul district of Orissa'', a company statement said on Wednesday. The scope of the work in the present contract envisages design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of steam turbines, generators and boilers along with associated auxiliaries and electricals. State-of-the-art controls and instrumentation and electrostatic precipitators are also part of the work entrusted to BHEL. The order came close on the heels of another order for a 600 MW thermal power plant of Korba West Power Company Ltd in Chhattisgarh. BHEL said the new order was testimony to the confidence reposed by Independent Power Producers (IIPs) in the firm's capabilities. In the current fiscal, nearly 95 per cent of the orders booked so far in the power sector were from private sector customers, it said. - PTI
