Corporate Merck ties up with Welcome Trust to develop vaccines NEW DELHI: Drug firm Merck & Co on Sunday said it has formed a joint venture (JV) with UK-based charitable organistation Welcome Trust to develop vaccines for the developing countries. “We along with charitable organisation Welcome Trust have formed a 50:50 joint venture, which would be based in India and would conduct research and development activities in the field of vaccines,” Mr Ramesh Subrahmanian, President (Asia Pacific Human H ealth), MSD Technology Singapore Pte Ltd said on the sidelines of India Economic Summit organised by WEF and CII here. MSD is a subsidiary of US-based drug firm Merck & Co Inc. Welcome Trust is the largest charitable organisation in the UK. It funds innovative biomedical research in the UK and globally and has spent around 600 million pounds in such activities last year. - PTI
