Corporate 366 jobs at risk at one Corus plant: Tata Steel MUMBAI: Tatas-owned European steel-maker Corus on Thursday said as many as 366 jobs are at risk at one of the company's plant in the UK. The jobs would be affected at the firm's Scunthorpe site in North East England. Corus has announced proposals to improve the “competitiveness of its Scunthorpe site in North East England, UK, by aligning employment cost with anticipated steel demand. As a result, 366 jobs are identified as being at risk,” Tata Steel, the parent firm of Corus, said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. According to the filing, consultations have started with employees and their representatives. “Wherever possible the company will seek voluntary redundancies, while at the same time ensuring that critical skills are retained. Support packages will be av ailable to those leaving the company,” the statement said. - PTI
