TIRODA (MAHARASHTRA): The work on erecting the boiler for the first unit at the Tiroda power plant of Adani Power Maharashtra Limited (APML) will commence next month with the construction at the site progressing on schedule, a top company official said.

The foundation of the boiler for the first unit has been completed and the erection of main structure would begin in October while construction of the main plant building is scheduled to commence in November this year, General Manager of APML, Mr Sanjeev Dokey, told a visiting press party at the site in Gondia district in eastern Maharashtra.

First unit is expected to start generating power in second half of 2011-12. The thermal based Tiroda plant will have an installed capacity of 1320 MW in the first phase (660x2) and Adani group has plans to expand it by another 1980 MW (660x3), taking the total to 3300 MW, Mr Dokey said.

Coal linkage for Tiroda has been granted by South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL). Besides, the company plans to operate its own captive coal mines for which the Central Government has allotted Lohara (west) and Lohara (extension) blocks in Chandrapur distirct in Vidarbha. - PTI
