Corporate GMDC hopes to get projects on value addition of minerals AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Mineral Development Corp (GMDC) is expected to get a number of projects focusing on value additions of various minerals found in Gujarat, source in the state government said on Tuesday. GMDC had invited expression of interest (EoI) for launching projects related to value additions in minerals like coke oven, manganese, bauxite, silica sand and florospar. “We have received a large number of proposals for manganese beneficiation, specialty aluminium chemicals, silica sand beneficiation and florospar beneficiation,'' a senior official of GMDC told PTI. Besides this, he said, a number of proposals have been received for setting up of cement plants in the State. Among those firms, which have shown interest for cement plant includes Grasim, Dalmia and Welspun, the official said. “A Japanese glass manufacturing company, Asai, has shown interest in silica sand project. Around 10 such projects will be set up in next 3-4 years,'' he said. - PTI
