Hyderabad Industries’ Gujarat unit to open by January

MUMBAI: The first phase of Hyderabad Industries Ltd’s (HIL) Gujarat unit will be commissioned by January, a top company official said.

The unit, located at Golan in Gujarat’s Surat district, will manufacture lightweight and energy-saving Aerocon blocks that would substitute clay bricks and concrete to prevent depletion of fertile soil cover.

“The first phase will be commissioned by early January next year and will have a production capacity of 3,50,000 cubic metres of concrete per annum,’’ the Vice-President (Marketing-Special Products), Mr K.A.S. Menon, told PTI here.

Hyderabad Industries has invested over Rs 80 crore at the Golan plant and will pump in another Rs 70 crore into the second phase that will be commissioned by the middle of next fiscal, Mr Menon said. — PTI
