Volkswagen appoints K K Swamy as MD & V-P

NEW DELHI: German car maker Volkswagen on Tuesday announced the appointment of Mr K K Swamy as the Managing Director and Vice-President of its India operations with effect from July 21.

"K K Swamy (53) has been appointed to the board of directors of Volkswagen India as Managing Director and Vice-President with effect from July 21,'' the company said in a statement.

In this position, Mr Swamy would report to Jorg Muller, the Managing Director and President of Volkswagen India.

Earlier this month, Mr Swamy had resigned as the Deputy Managing Director of Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM). He was instrumental in successfully setting up the greenfield project of TKM in Bangalore, besides announcing a Rs 1,400-crore venture to launch a 'strategic small car' in Indian market by 2010. - PTI
