ONGC to resume operations in Nagaland

NEW DELHI: The State-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is resuming operations in insurgency-hit Nagaland after a gap of 15 years and has opened a liaison office at Dimapur.

“The liaison office of ONGC has started functioning,” a company press release said here. ONGC suspended exploration and production in Nagaland in 1994.

“However, negotiations for resumption of the same are still continuing and a white paper on resumption of E&P activities was submitted to the Government of Nagaland”.

“Based on this, a MoU has also been submitted to the Nagaland Government for consideration. To facilitate free flow of information and better coordination, it was mutually agreed that ONGC shall open a liaison office in the premises of Directorate of Geo logy and Mining (DGM), Dimapur,” it said. - PTI
