Markets DLF, BHEL jump over 7% MUMBAI: Shares of realty major DLF and state-run Bharat Heavy Electricals surged over seven per cent today as the benchmark Sensex reversed its losses and gained as much as 590 points. However, the scrip of leading steel maker Tata Steel declined on the Bombay Stock Exchange over two per cent. DLF soared 8.56 per cent to close at Rs 414.55 after reaching an intra-day high of Rs 423.40. More than 35 lakh shares of the company changed hands. BHEL shot up 7.43 per cent to Rs 1,500.30. It had touched an intra-day high of Rs 1,512.60 and over five lakh shares were traded on the bourse. Further, Anil Ambani-led Reliance Infrastructure, engineering & construction major Larsen & Toubro, mortgage lender HDFC and private sector lender ICICI Bank rose in the range of four to seven per cent. Reliance Infrastructure increased 7.21 per cent to end the day at Rs 773.55. The scrip had reached an intra-day high of Rs 794 and more than 34 lakh shares changed hands. L&T jumped 6.53 per cent to Rs 2,379.85 after touching an intra-day high of Rs 2,395. HDFC and ICICI Bank rose 6.20 per cent and 4.67 per cent, respectively. Among the indices, realty, capital goods and power gained the most during the day's trade. On the other hand, Tata Steel fell 2.64 per cent to close at Rs 640.10. It had reached an intra-day low of Rs 626.50 and over 25 lakh shares of the company were t raded on the bourse. Pharmaceutical firm Cipla dropped 1.70 per cent to end the day at Rs 207.95 and more than two lakh shares changed hands. Country's largest software exporter Tata Consultancy Services too dipped 1.30 per cent to Rs 843.75. – PTI
