Commodities Jeera futures down 1.5% in early trade NEW DELHI: Jeera prices moved down by nearly 1.5 per cent in early trade on Monday on the domestic futures market due to continued selling by profit-takers. At 11.15 a.m., jeera for the most-active September contract plunged 1.5 per cent at Rs 12,755 a quintal after dipping to Rs 12,692 a quintal on the National Commodity and Derivates Exchange with a business volume of 3,063 tonnes. A similar trend was also extended to the far-month October contract, which was trading 1.5 per cent down at Rs 13,015 a quintal after declining to Rs 12,955 a quintal. The contract recorded business volume of 918 tonnes. Traders said apart from profit-taking at higher levels, pause in demand from exporters at the Unjha market in Gujarat mainly had a bearish effect on the prices. Meanwhile, spot prices of jeera were ruling lower at Rs 12,890 a quintal at Unjha. - PTI
