Steel futures extends losses on profit booking

NEW DELHI: Steel futures slid 0.33 per cent in afternoon trade on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) counter on Thursday largely on profit-booking by traders at existing higher levels.

At 1230 hrs on the NCDEX, steel long for the most-active June-month contract dipped 0.33 per cent to Rs 20,860 per tonne. It showed an open interest in 13,960 lots.

The July-month contract too extended losses by 0.09 per cent at Rs 22,190 per tonne, clocking 16,250 lots.

Marketmen said increased supply and a weak trend in the spot market, dampened trading sentiment in the futures market. - PTI
