Commodities Cardamom, jeera prices fall NEW DELHI: Cardamom and jeera prices on Saturday fell up to Rs 500 per quintal in the national capital on Saturday on selling pressure amid subdued domestic and export demand. Weak trends at producing belts also put pressure on the prices. Cardamom brown (Jhundiwali and Kanchicut) prices fell up to Rs 500 to conclude at Rs 19,400-19,500 and Rs 21,800-24,500 per quintal on stockists' selling. Jeera common and jeera best quality also traded lower at Rs 10,700-11,200 and Rs 13,500-14,000 against previous closing of Rs 11,000-11,500 and Rs 14,000-14,400 per quintal on lack of buying support. Marketmen said reduced offtake by local parties and weak export demand, mainly pulled down cardamom and jeera prices at the wholesale kirana market here. They said favourable rainfall at key growing areas also weighed on the prices. Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal): Ajwain 6,200-9,400, black pepper common 15,700-15,800, betelnut (kg) 85-95, cardamom brown (Jhundiwali) 19,400-19,500 and cardamom brown (Kanchicut) 21,800-24,500. Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 600-700, cardamom (colour robin) 700-710, cardamom bold 720-740, cardamom extra (bold) 790-810 and cloves (kg) 260-290. - PTI
