Copper down on subdued demand

NEW DELHI: After remaining firm for the past few days, copper turned weak and traded Rs 2 per kg, lower in the national capital today due to fall in demand at higher prices.

Other base metals including nickel and zinc, however held steady on some support. Marketmen said firming trend in base metals in the global markets on weak US dollar and fall in some metal's inventories mainly influenced the prices in the national capit al.

Copper wire scrap, copper super d rod, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap traded Rs 2 each down at Rs 287, Rs 309, Rs 308 and Rs 265 per kg respectively.

Following were today's quotations Rs per kg:

Tin ingot 755, zinc ingot 101.00, nickel plate (4x4) 760-895, gun metal scrap 225 bell metal scrap 230, copper wire scrap 287.00, copper super D rod 398, copper wire bar 310, copper mixed scrap 265.00, Utensil scrap 219, Chadripital 170. Lead ingot 92, lead imported 107, aluminium ingots 104, sheet cutting 100, aluminium wire scrap 100 and aluminium utensils scrap 90. – PTI
