Silver futures rise on firm global cues

NEW DELHI: Silver futures prices moved up by nearly one per cent on the Multi Commodity Exchange on Wednesday as traders involved in enlarging their positions in tandem with firming global trend. Silver for far-month December contract gained 0.91 per ce nt to Rs 26,713 a kg with business turnover in 5,665 lots. Similarly, silver for delivery in March contract traded 0.90 per cent higher at Rs 26,940 a kg in business volume in 247 lots.

Marketmen said increased buying by speculators on hopes of pick up in demand ahead of marriage and festival season mainly pushed up silver prices at futures market. Better trend in overseas market also boosted trading sentiment in futures trade. Meanwhil e, silver in the US markets traded higher by 0.24 cent at 16.46 dollar an ounce. – PTI
