Cardamom up on higher demand

NEW DELHI: Cardamom prices strengthened by 1.59 per cent on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Monday on reduced arrivals from producing regions amid pick up in demand in the spot markets.

Cardamom for September month contract rose by 1.59 per cent to Rs 798.75 per kg. The contract recorded a business volume of two lots.

Cardamom for August month contract gained 1.19 per cent at Rs 826.75 per kg with trading volume of 24 lots.

Similarly, the current July month contract inched up by 0.23 per cent to Rs 859.75 per kg in 10 lots.

Marketmen said a pick up in demand in the spot market mainly boosted trading sentiment in futures trade.

They said restricted arrivals from southern regions too supported the uptrend in cardamom prices to some extent. - PTI
