Mentha futures down on profit-taking

NEW DELHI: Mentha futures prices declined by Rs 4.50, or 0.75 per cent, to Rs 598.40 per kg on Tuesday on profit-taking by speculators, driven by a weakening trend at spot market.

Mentha for January contract declined by Rs 4.50, or 0.75 per cent, to Rs 598.40 per kg at the Multi Commodity Exchange with an open interest of 5,592 lots. Similarly, the oil for delivery in February shed Rs 3.50, or 0.58 per cent to conclude at Rs 605 p er kg in 1,990 lots.

Marketmen said besides profit-taking by speculators, weakening trend at spot market also attributed to fall in prices at futures market here. They said increased arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh, a major producing centre, also put pressure on the futures prices of mentha oil. — PTI
