Zinc down at wholesale market

NEW DELHI: The wholesale prices of zinc fell on Wednesday by Rs 6 a kg here after the Government removed import duty on the metal. Zinc prices fell by Rs 6 at Rs 112 a kg while zinc dros lost Rs 3 at Rs 100 a kg.

"Apart from withdrawal of import duty, weak global cues also dampened the trading sentiments here," a base metal merchant said.

Nickel plate (4x4) prices also fell by Rs 5 at Rs 1,370-1,460 per kg in line with weakening trends at the London Metal Exchange, where its prices fell $630 at $28,650 a tonne.

Lead ingot (Hindustan zinc) and lead imported both lost Rs 3 each at Rs 137 and Rs 157 a kg respectively.
