Nielsen and PATA to collaborate for Travel Monitor journal

NEW DELHI: Tourism and travel association, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has joined hands with global information and media major Nielsen Company to launch the first edition of the annual Nielsen Indian Outbound Travel Monitor journal in the cou ntry.

The Travel Monitor for the year 2008, which is based on a sample of 2,000 respondents from 10 Indian cities, explores the behaviour and considerations of travel consumers during planning for any trip abroad. It has been designed for travel organisations, PATA said in a statement.

“With India being one of the fastest growing markets globally, the eyes of the travel and tourism industry are turning to this country of 1.1 billion residents...the monitor is a must-have reference for tourism industry managers interested in tapping the evolving Indian outbound travel market,'' said the PATA Strategic Intelligence Centre Director, Mr John Koldowski.

“The increasingly affluent middle-class has contributed to a dynamic growth of outbound travel...the Nielsen Indian Outbound Travel Monitor will help organisations involved in the travel and tourism industry to gain insightful information about consumer holiday preferences,'' said the Nielsen Company Associate Director for Clients Solutions, Ms Vatsala Pant.

The company said the monitor would help tourism professionals identify and optimise growth opportunities in the Indian outbound travel market and help develop effective, targeted marketing strategies. - PTI
