Axel Hilgers appointed Lufthansa Director South Asia

BANGALORE: German air carrier Lufthansa on Monday announced the appointment of Axel Hilgers as the Director South Asia. Hilgers would be taking over from Werner Heesen who has completed over 37 years with Lufthansa.

Hilgers has spent 13 years consolidating the airline's position as the leading European airline in India, a company statement said here. Hilgers' new role would be effective from December 1 as Heesen retires this year, it said.

In his new assignment, Hilgers would be responsible for overseeing Lufthansa's passenger sales and marketing activities in South Asia. Hilgers, who joined the company in 1986, was General Manager of Lufthansa in France prior to moving to India. - PTI
